Robert Wong, MD, MS, FACG is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine (Affiliated) in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Stanford University School of Medicine and Staff Physician in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section, Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and active member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL).
His clinical research career has focused on clinical epidemiology, outcomes, and health services research among patients with chronic liver disease. In particular, his work has focused on elucidating the mechanisms of healthcare disparities in access to care and liver disease outcomes particularly among ethnic minorities and underserved, vulnerable, and safety-net populations. He has over 180 manuscript publications, and his work has been published in JAMA, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, and American Journal of Gastroenterology. He and his team has routinely presented their work at AASLD Liver meetings, ACG Annual Scientific Meetings, Digestive Diseases Week, and the EASL International Liver Congresses. His prior work has been recognized by receipt of the AASLD Clinical and Translational Research Award in Liver Diseases and the ACG Clinical Research Award. He is actively involved as a member of the AASLD Foundation Research Awards Committee and the AASLD Ethnics Commitee. He is an active member of the ACG Practice Parameters Committee serving as a GRADE Methodologist and also serves on the ACG Educational Affairs Committee.
